Discover the community of Oron, its history and its landscapes, thanks to the itineraries proposed by the municipality. These loop walks of varying length will take you around many villages rich in heritage.
Discover the west of the community of Oron thanks to this route which will take you through numerous villages and hamlets including Châtillens, Les Tavernes and Les Thioleyres. The itinerary crosses several waterways such as the rivers Grenet, Biorde or the Broye, and takes you on a loop trail of about 16 kilometres.

1.  Place de la foire

Viromagus or Uromagus (the ox market), the former name of Oron, is mentioned on the military maps of the Roman Empire in the 4th century AD. According to the Peutinger Table, Oron was a stop on the road from Milan to Mainz. Today this fairground still hosts a monthly fair on the first Wednesday of each month, as well as the traditional onion fair in October.

2.  Météorite de la Chervettaz

On 30 November 1901, four people observed a meteorite fall in the Chervettaz forest, in the territory of the town of Châtillens. The meteorite, which was collected while still warm in three pieces weighing 639, 57 and 9 grams, can be seen in the Cantonal Geological Museum in Lausanne.

3.  Patinoire d'Oron

For nearly ten years now, skating enthusiasts have been meeting at the Oron-la-Ville ice rink, which is set up temporarily during the winter season. First in the sports centre, then on the site of the sports field refreshment bar, the rink is a delight for young and old.
