Explore the community of Oron, its history and its landscapes thanks to the itineraries proposed by the municipality. These trails of varying length take you through some villages rich in heritage.
Discover the east end of the community of Oron choosing this trail which takes you through a number of villages and hamlets including Chesalles-sur-Oron, where General Guisan lived for some time, but also Bussigny-sur-Oron, Ecoteaux and Palézieux. The trail twice crosses the Mionne, an affluent of the river Broye, and takes you on a 15 kilometre loop walk.

Point of interest

 

1.  Château d'Oron

The first buildings are going back to the end of the 12th century. The property was used as a residence for the Bernese bailiffs until 1798 and was then transformed into a prison. Bought back in 1870, it changed hands several times until it was classified and converted into a library. Today, this fortress houses an 18th century flat renowned for its library of 18,000 volumes. Discover the life of the aristocrats of the Ancien Régime. Open from April to September.

2.  Ferme du Général Guisan

Before settling down at the Verte Rive property in Pully, General Guisan, born in 1874 in Mézières, bought the Bellevue farm in Chesalles-sur-Oron, which he worked and lived in from 1897 to 1902.
