Over the centuries, numerous churches and chapels with different architectural styles and characteristics have been built in the region, including the church in Syens and the chapel of Sainte-Agnès in Lucens.
Discover these places of worship in the region, a heritage of great value, during a bicycle ride between Moudon and Lucens.

Point of interest

 

1.  Eglise Saint-Etienne

Noted for its splendid Gothic architecture and painted adornment, the church has 16th-century choir stalls and the oldest organ in the canton (1764). The church is a stopover point of the Via Jacobi 4 leading pilgrims to Saint James of Compostela.

2.  Église de Syens

Formerly an annex of Moudon until the Reformation, Syens became a parish again in 1769. The church was then rebuilt in 1787, integrating the medieval choir into the new nave.

3.  Église Saint-Pierre-de-Marcens

This church founded in 1050 contains an 18th-century nave decorated with painted murals and a 16th-century choir, as well as a remarkable arcaded belltower.

4.  Chapelle Sainte-Agnès

The chapel is located at the foot of the Castle of Lucens and is embedded in the fortifications of the town. It was first mentioned around 1365. Legend has it that the chapel was founded by Jean de Baulmes to atone for the assassination of Perrod de Bercher, then lord of Lucens.
